The Best of St. Croix |
Streetlight Conservation Ideas |
On a recent trip to the great state of Florida, we noticed something that could be used right here in the Virgin Islands to save the government some money since we are getting less illumination from the street after dark because of so many blown bulbs. |
First of all, a good road surface should be laid out. If not at least good REFLECTIVE paint should be used. This street seemed newly painted. |
The second feature necessary is the placing of the little street reflectors which come in red, yellow, white and possibly other colors as well. |
These reflectors are used to clearly mark the median, dividing lines and the white lines on the sides of the road. |
Here is a multi-lane street with streetlight AND reflectors. |
And here we are on a street with no streetlights. |
The paint and the reflectors gleam in the headlights. |
And now, it is the middle of the night - no streetlights but you can clearly see the road markings on a multi-lane street. Even on a moonless night. |
I know we can do this, too. |
