St. Paddy's Day Parade 2006
The St. Patrick's Parade started at 11:10 AM...a little late, but the temperature was nice and everyone seemed to be having a good time regardless. So, the parade was on Crucian time, that's normal!! Can you count how many beer bottles are in these pictures??
While some waited on Company Street, there was more waiting on King Street.
And then, it began with the ROTC marching band headed West on Company Street.
The marching band was composed of several parts.
Here are two happy people who have come to watch the parade and show their love of things green!
The majorettes were next.
And the King and Queen of the Parade.
And for some reason, the boys kept yelling "Light it up!" at this entrant.
I'm sure fishing at the St. Paddy's Parade for these guys didn't produce a catch, but it sure got rid of some beer. Good story for the wives guys.
These were the big floats.
And a banana truck with a live band.
Then, with the parade half way down the street, folks were headed to King Street to catch the action again.
Hmmm...
Vendors did a brisk business of St. Pat's souvenirs.
A few more green headed ones.
The Grand Marshall of the parade and those "Cruzanized" by the spirit of Cruzan Rum.
Entrant #17 the bike lady being hugged by Tatoo man.
It's so easy being green.
And here is that ankle-biting terror of a dog named Goliath. The meanest little ball of fluff there ever was. See that Clint Eastwood squint? What? Never mind the shamrock ears! I only put them on to please the old lady!
Green Jello shots were being sold on the street by pretty waitresses.
A great time was had by all.
People lined the street waiting for the floats to go by, tapping feet to the music.
One of the party floats.
And the live band played on.
Crabbs Dive Club entry. Who is that octupus?
All kinds of fake fish were caught by drunken fishermen. Water pistol fights broke out all over the place, too.
A float of fun lovers with a political purpose.
More entries from the West End of the island.
Pets from Paradise relocates pets from the island to new homes on the mainland.
A few other street scenes.
The lovely ladies of Jolly Roger's.
Donkey rides on Eeyor.
And here is an entry with no purpose at all.
More of the P.L.A.W.P. entry.
The TanTan Tours entry was rocking the truck this way and that.
Alternate means of transportation. A one man entry.
This officer of the law kept his cool while ladies with liquor danced for him.
And you over there! Why are you hiding your eyes behind those crooked aviator sunglasses? Are you in the witness protection program or something??
