Krewe de Barkus Dog Parade 2008 |
This year's Krewe de Barkus Dog Parade put on by the Krewe de Croix on the Christiansted Boardwalk is one of the first events put on by the group leading up to the Mardi Croix Parade. Canines of all sizes and decor strutted their stuff on the dogwalk. |
Sadie's Pet Boutique was open for the pet who needed that last item to make his/her outfit smashing. |
Happy pets leave the store on their way to the parade. |
Registration was underway when we arrived on the Boardwalk. |
Well now, are you an Irish doggie? |
Greetings! |
Even the handicapped were allowed to do their patriotic best. |
A meeting of the minds. |
And here we have a poodle dressed as a firehouse Dalmatian. |
This feisty pooch wasn't letting any bigger dogs get the better of him. |
And here comes Sadie in her pink detailed blue jeans. |
Watch out for that pirate! |
What are cats doing at this parade? |
Puppy love? |
The French Maid and her Poodle. |
Some have chosen to arrive by sea. |
The judges table was set up along the narrow end of the Boardwalk. |
The Judges. |
And so the parade begins. |
And then the parade slowed. There seemed to be a bottleneck at the judges table. |
The delay caused some to overheat. |
An absolute halt. |
Finally the line began to move and the parade continued into Strand Street. |
